The Monumental Project initiates by 1799, Alexander
Humbolt gave the sign of 9 possible routes for an interoceanic channel.
These routes included Nicaragua, which by Humbolt chosing was his first
choice. Panam at that time was assigned the 4th place. My first trip
to San Juan was in July 2002, I fell in love with it.
That is the reason why I keep coming, every vacation
I had the last 3 years I visited Nicaragua and collected more than 5,000
articles relevant to culture, history and much more. you are welcome to

We departimos from La Portuaria de Granada this
last 25 de Diciembre 2003. Viaje : 12 hours/horas at Lake Nicaragua, 2
1/2 hours to El Castillo, an Spanish Fort, built 250 years ago.. there
we spent one night at The El Castillo Hotel a just wonderful place to view
the inmense river San Juan de Nicaragua. From El Castillo 8 hours boat
ride to San Juan del Norte..there we spent one night at Melvins' Place
a great sea food dinner with californian wine. next day boat ride 5 hours
from San Juan del Norte to Blueffields, making stops in Monkey Point, Photography
at the Rifts, the las descendents of The Rama Tribe at the RamaKey Island,
tell of legends rich dialog with Ed Manfutt your host. Finally boat ride
to Corn Island and the Little Corn Island where we spend a night, to return
by air to Blueffields. Boat Ride on The Escondido River to El Rama, Bus
Ride to Juigalpa,where we spend one night, dinner of the most popular soup
in Juigalpa Bull Testicle Soup with californian wine and more than 10 varieties
of cheeses from Chontales. Visit the more gentle people in Central America,

No fué un viaje comun y corriente, logré
ésta fotografía que la cuido como un trofeo. Ed Manfutt con
Ernesto Cardenal día 26 de Diciembre del 2003, 4:30 de la tarde.
Así pues, tomé pasaje en Continental
airlines con una parada en Houston, y después en Managua me dirigí
a Granada y luego a San Juan del Norte. Salimos el 26 de Diciembre.
El lago se caraterizó por..Vientos calmosos,
chubascos y tormentas eléctricas hicieron tedioso el viaje, aunque
la verdad es que los diversos cambios de escena que esos fenómenos
de la naturaleza producían compensaron aquellas molestias.
Es difícil dar una idea de la mágica
belleza de los atardeceres que contemplé entonces en el Lago de
Nicaragua. ..
fugaces tintes pasaban por miles de gradaciones
carmín, púrpura, violeta y azules, todos se fundían
en un color terroso, bajaban rayos por entre los colores más terrestres
de la atmósfera inferior, dando tonos de un verde azulado en su
matiz más tenue.
Anchos macizos de luz, de oro unos y de azul
los otros, partiendo desde el punto en donde el sol se ocultaba en el horizonte
y elevándose al zenit, cruzaban el espacio como varillas transparentes
de un gigantesco abanico. Nubes aborregadas, semejantes a céfiros
rosados, se cernían sobre nosotros, y las velas y los mástiles
del barco se teñían de un delicado tinte lila que, con diversos
matices, coloreaban la mitad del firmamento norte. Por las mañanas
el celaje era igualmente colorido y bello.
la paleta del horizonte ostentaba los más
variados mate del violeta y del azul; rimeros obscuros de un verde-gris
interrumpían po doquier la transición gradual. Un cendal
de lila pálido se desdibujaba ba jando del zenit hacia el Oriente;
y la luna aparecía recortando su silue a través de una gasa
muy sutil.
Antes del anochecer del 26 de Diciembre aparecieron
a la vista las montañas de la Isla
de Ometepe; eran dos conos, uno truncados y el otrom erguido.
A mañana siguiente la mole del Castillo
de la Inmaculada Concepción en el Río San Juan..elevándose
en la las riberas del río
La más destacada edificación es
Hospedaje El Castillo, el mejor "hotel" del pueblo.
El poblado que ha sobrevivido ..En la escogencia
del lugar sobresale en la colina un edificio que fue edificado al
borde del agua y sobre terreno rocoso; sobre los raudales del Diablo..
aguas rápidas del río, bergantines y las goletas en
un tiempo no podían cruzarlo.
